The Winchester League of Women Voters is dedicated to recognizing the importance of a strong civil society in the functioning of our participatory democracy. Therefore, we are pleased to honor a woman who has made a significant contribution to our civic life at a local or state level. Each year our honoree will bring a high level of competence, compassion, and ethical meaning to the issues and policies of the day.

Including the traits described in the explanation above, further criteria for consideration in selecting our award-receiver will include the following, when applicable:
    • Has combined intelligence and idealism in her actions
    • Has worked to resolve conflicts in a collaborative style
    • Has engaged others in an inclusive manner in her efforts
    • Has shaped public discourse in a civil tone
