Is There a Better Approach to Health Insurance for Winchester Town Employees?

  • 03 Feb 2015

  • Sanborn House, 15 High Street, Winchester

Two experts on health insurance for municipal employees and retirees will discuss the pros and cons for Winchester of joining the state’s Health Insurance Exchange, called the Group Insurance Commission (GIC).

Health insurance for town employees and retirees is a major budget concern.  Winchester must also keep pace with its peer towns to attract and retain the best employees.  Currently, in addition to state employees, 12 cities, 33 towns, and 8 school districts participate in the GIC.  Among these are: Arlington, Brookline, Lexington, Medford, North Andover, Somerville, Stoneham, Sudbury, and Weston.  John Brouder, Partner, Boston Benefit Partner, LLC, and Kenneth Lombardi, CEO and Senior Client Manager for the EBS Foran Group, who represent cities and towns in making decisions about health insurance, will present the pros and cons of this choice.
